But once you own enough Mercury, suddenly that yearly update fee of $180 gets you updates and several new plugins every year. Waves gets a lot of hate because of the update plan, which I understand. Good EQ, good spread (not usually a fan of stereo width plugins but this one is good at low settings - automated it up to 1-2 during choruses!). (The SSL Compressor is really usable, and the SSL Channels are great for use on a bus for bus compression and EQ.)Ībbey Road TG Mastering Chain is another favorite.
